In this thrilling new musical, the charming Kimberly Akimbo is navigating her life as a teenager. But she’s no ordinary kid. A comedy driven showcase, Kimberly Akimbo the musical is a masterpiece by Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize winning playwright and lyricist David Lindsay-Abaire. He also wrote the original play with the same title, which premiered in 2000. Discussions to turn the play into a full on music production took a while but eventually it made its way to Off Broadway. This production opened on Off Broadway debut in 2021 and the following year, the show finally made it to Broadway with a stellar creative team and a mighty talented cast. The musical’s original music was composed by Tony nominee Jeanine Tesori. Both Off Broadway and Broadway productions were led by the ensemble comprising Tony Award winning actors Victoria Clark, Justin Cooley, and Bonnie Milligan, Tony nominated actor Steven Boyer, and the esteemed Alki Mauzey.

When we say that the show pulled out all the stops, we are not kidding. The musical brought in Tony nominated director Jess Stone, Tony and Laurence Olivier Award-winning choreographer Danny Mefford, Tony Award winning scenic designer David Zinn, Obie Award winning costume designer Sarah Laux, award-winning lighting designer Jeanette Oi-Suk Yu, and Tony Award-winning sound designer Kai Harada. After a highly successful Broadway run, Kimberly Akimbo is finally hitting the road this year with a 60-city trek and the tour will span over 70 weeks.
