The tunes are all about ’60s dance beats and that cool “downtown” rhythm and blues vibe. The show kicks it back to 1962 in Baltimore, Maryland, where the story unfolds. It’s all about this teenage dynamo named Tracy Turnblad, who’s got this wild dream of tearing up the dance floor on The Corny Collins Show, a local TV dance gig inspired by the real-life Buddy Deane Show. Now, when Tracy snags a spot on the show, boom! She’s suddenly the talk of the town, turning into an overnight sensation. Her fame sparks some social shake-up as Tracy goes all out to push for the show’s integration. It’s a wild ride of music, dance, and making a difference!
