Referred to as the world’s best musical, Annie is one of the longest-running and time-honored stage shows to ever come out. The musical, which premiered on Broadway in 1977, is based on the classic comic strip by Harold Gray titled Little Orphan Annie. This remarkable story delves into the life of a cheery and happy orphan named Annie. She’s 11 years old and is absolutely positive that she will find her parents. Fairly a good girl, Annie sometimes gets into trouble not because she’s naughty. Her guardian Miss Hannigan is just as cruel as they come. One day, Annie escapes the orphanage to look for her parents. She is then caught by the police and brought back. A billionaire by the name of Oliver Warbucks sends his assistant to the orphanage to select a child to spend Christmas at his mansion. Being scolded by the mean Ms. Hannigan, Annie catches the assistant’s attention. Hence, she was selected to spend the holidays at the mansion. Will Annie finally be adopted and finally be happy? Or will sinister forces try to sabotage her chances of living a happy life? Stay tuned and score tickets now to Annie the Musical at the Buell Theatre!
