Life of Pi at Buell Theatre

Most people know the story of Life of Pi through the movie. Director Ang Lee and his team did a fabulous job with the source material, which comes from the book by Yann Martel. Martel actually helped with the playwright for this musical along with expert theater writer Lolita Chakrabarti. This is important because it means this version grasps the soul of the story, even in this new format. There are two situations that are in play throughout the story. It's mainly about Pi's fight for actual survival, while trying not to lose his mind in the process. This allows the story to shift from his reality to his imagination. The narrative is so complex, and yet it doesn't scare people away because until you're shoulders deep into the plot, you realize how dense it is.

This musical hasn't been around for too long; the first-ever official performance was in 2019. Since then, it has packed auditoriums all around the UK, while also having a long stay in London's West End before going to Broadway. It's picked up applause from fans and esteemed theater award shows in the process. Life of Pi is headed to the Temple Hoyne Buell Theatre in Denver, Colorado as a way to get more people to experience the story. Since it's not a play that's been around for too long, there's a good chance that you've never been at a theater to see it. The puppet design can't compare to anything that Broadway had seen before.
