Chicago is a razzle-dazzle musical which is set in the opulent 1920s. It tells the story of Roxie Hart, a nightclub dancer and housewife who kills her on-the-side lover when he threatens to leave her. In a desperate bid to escape punishment, she deceives the public, the media, and her rival cellmate, Velma Kelly. Roxie hires the most cunning criminal attorney in Chicago to transform her horrible deed into a barrage of dramatic press that might easily be ripped from the tabloids of today.
In contrast to the majority of broadway musicals, “Chicago” features a unique band arrangement wherein the band is positioned on risers at center stage rather than in the pit. With the opportunity to engage with the characters during the entire show, the ten-piece band adds spice to the performance.
This Broadway revival has received a total of 6 Tony Awards for “Best Revival of a Musical,” “Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Musical,” “Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Musical,” “Best Performance by a Featured Actress in a Musical,” “Best Direction of a Musical,” “Best Choreography,” and “Best Lighting Design.” Additionally, the score won “Best Musical Show Album” at the Grammy Awards.
“Chicago is a triumph! It doesn’t just give us the old razzle-dazzle; it glows.” – Time Magazine

“Chicago the Musical is everything it promises to be: it’s sexy, it’s playful and it’s very funny.” – Always Time For Theatre
“It’s a solid tour in that it feels exactly like “Chicago” always feels!” – Orlando Sentinel
In a review from Triangle Arts, they said: “Tânia Nardini’s recreation of the original production direction, coupled with fun, flashy choreography recreated by Gary Chryst, add fresh zest to this saucy tale. And, speaking of “saucy,” Katie Frieden adds just the right blend of spunk and vulnerability in her role as Roxie. It’s hard to imagine anything more fun than watching her face off against her nemesis, fellow stardom-obsessed inmate, Velma Kelly, portrayed to sneaky, scheming, sarcastic perfection by Logan Floyd.”
“It would be a crime not to see the show!” – The Daily Nebraskan
“A masterful star-studded production!” – The Guardian
“20 years old and she’s still got it, folks!” – New York Theatre Guide
